Tune In
Christian will be on The Today Show tomorrow morning at 7:32 AM for a pre-taped segment on American Idol.

Tomorrow night we're going to the premiere of Hannibal Rising. I haven't even seen a commercial for it but I'm going anyway. Me likey scary movies. Add a red carpet, free popcorn and an after party and you can count me in. Added bonuses: the roommate from Notting Hill is in it and the scoundrel boyfriend from 28 Days will be there.

Oh, and did you know you could win Christian's Kia Sportage from his Comedy Central tour? You can! Click here for more info and to enter. It's nice. See?

The Gospel of Jack...Sort Of
Remember Jack? Before I met him, he had a law firm with this guy. I want to testify in Harley's defense. "Honey, if you think that's bad..." is how I'd start out. In all seriousness, sexual harrassment can be very real and traumatic for some people. I found Jack to be harmless and just trying to make the boring parts of law office work a little more exciting. While I don't know Harley, I can assume he is of the same ilk. That said, Jack went through LOTS of assistants over the years.

On one hand, she was just an admin. Those gigs are a dime a dozen in NYC. If it was so bad, it's a cinch to switch partners or firms. On the other, if she was truly hurt, offended and/or threatened by his comments and HR didn't do anything to help her, well then why should she have to switch jobs?

Has anyone had a personal experience or first hand account that actually resulted in action? I'm curious how it panned out. I've known a few law partners who've been sued and it always settles out of court. I missed my golden opportunity. Heh. But I'm not the litigious type and I've still got Jack in my corner.

Bigger Than Life!
I used to stare dreamily at my poster of David Lee Roth. His seductive stare followed me around my room and I would wonder, "What if he could actually *see* me in my room right now?" And so I would stop picking my nose or would put on something a little more flattering just in case. Now I've got another hot blonde pin-up. He also watches me but this one doesn't pick up his dirty laundry or empty the dishwasher.

So the tour has officially kicked off with huge events at NYU and Northwestern. Here are a couple of articles / interviews for the latter: Daily Northwestern and The Depaulia

Last night's "Fresh Meat" at Comix was outstanding. I have never seen Jonathan Ames before and, wow, I just can't stop thinking about him and his shamefully hilarious tale of molestation. I'm going to have our tech guy get me a copy so I can watch it again and again as a shining example of how even the most sensitive material can be riotously funny. A lesson for me if and when I ever work on Love, Daddy. Apparently he'll be hosting his own show at Mo Pitkins. I imagine I will be there many times, front row & center. For pictures from last night check out this Fresh Meat Flickr set from Brian Van.

I had to bail on seeing Judy Gold's show with Greg & Molly tonight. I'm terribly disappointed but am happy I was able to give them free tickets. I'm not sure how long I can work like this. It's all wonderful stuff, of course, but good God I think I might collapse and/or have a heart attack. My phone rings at 6:30 AM and urgent emails and texts come in all day and night.

Why is this week more jam packed? Kim Coles & John Henton are in town and I have them booked on many radio and TV spots and phoners. If you're fans --I know a few of you absolutely are--you can listen to them live tomorrow morning on KISS FM at 7:30 AM and Kim on Hot 97 at 8:30 AM. Later in the afternoon they'll be on Sirius stations. Kim will be on The Radiochick on 92.3 Friday at 4:00 PM. Or catch them both *early* Friday morning on CW11's morning show at 6:45 AM. Gulp. Ick.

Workaholic
A few friends have been asking me, "So when the hell do I get to see you again and it NOT be at Comix?!" No kidding, I thought. So I'm making an effort to carve out time for myself. It started with the leisurely brunch in the City with Scott (we talked some about his career) and will include burgers and beer with Keith tonight (we'll definitely talk shop) and free tickets to see Judy Gold's "Jewish Mother" show. It will be the first show I've seen in ages that isn't stand up or at Comix but even still she is a stand up comedian. Baby steps, I guess.

A few marketing/PR blogs and a comedy blog or two picked up my free bag of "weed" stunt and there was a buzz (pun intended) amongst the crowds about the whole idea. Best part is that it resulted in lots of sales and walk up traffic to the box office. Awesome! It's results like that that encourage me to keep trying to think more creatively.

Christian will be updating his blog from the road documenting his tour with Comedy Central. Here' s his initial entry which includes a sneak preview of some of the commercials and promo spots that will be running all weekend. He'll also be writing for CollegeHumor (!!!) and has a piece coming out in the March issue of Penthouse on stands early to mid-February.

For more press updates and show info, refresh your browser to get The Latest Ballyhoo or subscribe by email.

I spent this windy cold day with Scott aka Rev. Ramsey. (How long do I keep referencing him like that? I say this is the last time.) We had an amazing brunch and conversation that made me not want to leave him so I ran errands with him around the City. His new headshots are positively gorgeous and he has his new website design underway. I'm so proud and excited for my friend taking more steps toward what I think will be a long acting and singing career.

Before heading in to the City today, I said goodbye to Christian (Finnegan, duh!) who loaded in to his new Kia for Comedy Central's "Two For Flinching College Tour"! You can catch him at NYU at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts this Thursday, January 25th for the official kick off. I'll be there, too, so say hello if you see me.

On Friday Night Standup this Friday, January 26th, Comedy Central will air his tour promotions between commercials. Be sure to tune in or check out Christian's blog. He'll be posting a few over the next week.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I scored interviews with Gothamist for all three guys from The Marijuana-Logues. Here they are: Doug Benson, Arj Barker and Tony Camin.

--Kambri

Link - 12:01 PM -

Free Bags of "Weed"!
To promote The Marijuana-Logues at Comix, I came up with the idea to give out free bags of "weed" in Union Square. We assembled our packets with a mixture of oregano, tarragon & corriander seeds, slapped on some stickers with a discount code and passed out over 1,000 baggies. It was fun. Now here's my sales pitch:

Save $5 on Tickets to The Marijuana-Logues!

The Marijuana-Logues is a "hit" unlike anything you have ever seen. Catch the buzz as the three origianal writers and performers, Arj Barker, Doug Benson and Tony Camin, riff on the rites and rituals of pot and regale the crowd with the highs and lows of marijuana.

Told from all points of view from hazy to highbrow, The Marijuana-Logues never loses the pot...er point, demonstrating that the stories surrounding the bud are as varied as those who indulge.

Prices and show times are as follows:
Jan 19 @ 8:00 or 10:30 - $25.00*
Jan 20 @ 8:00 or 10:30 - $25.00*

*Save $5.00 off these prices with the promo code "MJLWEB". Buy tickets online or call 212.524.2500.

The Latest Ballyhoo is online. Refresh your browser to get the news.

I'm busy with work, of course, but also the onslaught of television worth watching like the Golden Globes, American Idol, four hours of 24, and my obsession with Forensic Files and The Investigators. Normally I don't have time for or care to watch this much television but I've been so stressed and tense lately (four months of hardcore work will do that, I guess) that I'm finding it a nice escape.

Somehow I also managed to read Freakanomics (good but too similar to the Tipping Point) design Comix's newsletter template (basically The Latest Ballyhoo) and splend plenty of dining, laughing and drinking time with Tex in the City friends Greg, Scott & Brian, Molly and slew of others. Good times but it makes me long for a candlelit bath and wine. Speaking of which...

Happy Anniversary to Us!
Four years ago today, Christian & I had our first date at Cafe Bar in Astoria. We've always treated ourselves to a schamncy dinner in the city where I present a scrapbook of our last year. This time we're sticking to Queens and heading over to The Brick Cafe near our old apartments. We haven't eaten there since moving in together and we want to pay homage to our early days as a couple together. With my PR obligations to Comix and Christian, I haven't even *thought* about assembling a scrapbook which really bums me out. I hope to find some time in the next week or two to get it together. Looking at our first one I am astounded at how far we've come as a couple and individually.

From my 2005 blog entry marking our two year anniversary:

Having an anniversary that falls during a season of new beginnings affords us the opportunity to look back at the year together, acknowledge our amazing milestones and fun times as well as set goals for the future 12 months. We did this last year, and I'm pretty certain that one of Christian's goals was to have his own 1/2 hour special (CHECK!) and one of mine was to start my own production and PR company (CHECK!). I can't wait to see if this year's goals are checked off with similar success. Stay tuned for January 15, 2006, for an update.

--Kambri
I'm pretty sure our 2006 were met and surpassed by miles. Time to aim really high for 2007!

My friend Rachel Kramer Bussel, the same RKB who was spotted on NY1 the weekend that practically everyone I knew was in the press, will no longer be the sex columnist ("Lusty Lady") for the Village Voice. She wrote more about her experience on her blog and listed her favorite columns, one of which is "The Sex Lives of Comedians" which features some personal quotes from and a pic of me and Christian. While I'm bummed she got axed, I'm excited to see what else she has in store for us.

What a Weekend!
Dreamgirls was awesome! The audience broke into applause about three times. I love it when that happens: when a bunch of strangers in a dark movie theater can collectively agree that what they just saw was spectacular. So spectacular that they can't quietly enjoy it but they have to cheer out loud to the two dimensional actors, "BRA-freakin'-VO!"

Now I'm off to Comix to meet up with Scott (Rev. Ramsey) and Brian and Brian's cousins to celebrate Brian's birthday by watching one of the sold out Janeane Garofalo / Marc Maron shows. ALL five shows were sell outs! I've been so stressed and tense the last two weeks so I'm pretty excited to get down there, soak up the buzz of a sellout weekend in person and have some fun.

Christian was a guest on last night's episode of Keith & the Girl. It's a great comedy podcast with a large audience and a pretty great episode.

Marc Maron's appearance on Letterman was last night as well. Tickets are pretty much sold out for tonight but you can still get tickets for the late shows on Friday & Saturday. Check out www.comixny.com for details.

Christian & I were pictured in "Social Life" magazine (!) thanks to Chris London. Scan to follow shortly. All I know is I can't wear that green & white BCBG dress any more! It's in every picture.

Carolyn Castiglia had a ridiculous clip on the White Rapper Show last night on VH1. She also auditioned for Nick at Nite's "America's Funniest Mom" and made it to the second round.

Update: Marc Maron will be on "The Late Show with David Letterman" tonight. This is per him but my TV Guide still shows him on tomorrow.

More Like One Degree!
In other publicity not related to Comix, follow this nutso six degrees craziness that began Friday night involving the following friends of ours:

Bob Powers' new book "Happy Cruelty Day" was a feature in the NY Post today writen by my friend Mandy Stadtmiller.

Village Voice columnist Rachel Kramer Bussel, was on the news today.

And pal Eddie Peppitone did a spot on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Friday night a show for which our friend Adam Spiegelman produces.

Adam was just interviewed by my girly-pal Susie Felber for the Comedy Central Insider, the blog I guest blogged for back during the Montreal Comedy Festival. She has also interviewed Bryan Tucker -- our friend who writes for SNL and hooked us up to see Alec Baldwin guest hosting -- and ... Bob Powers.

--Kambri
Did I miss anyone? **UPDATE** Idid miss someone! Keith Fernbach (my Meow Mix House co-hort and fellow NOLA animal rescue volunteer) was a quote of the year in this article.

A day early for you folks bored on a Sunday: The Latest Ballyhoo. I knew I'd love the programming for January and it seems the audiences do, too. Tickets are selling fast and the crowds are giving us great feedback. Comix being the new kid on the block means we've had to work extra hard and it's really paying off! (Did you happen to see the great interview I got with Paul F. Tompkins and Jane Borden in Time Out NY? Check out The Latest Ballyhoo for the link.)

As promised, here's a clip of Paul on stage at Comix. There's another clip of Paul available if you follow the link and, if you're still into clips, there's one of Janeane Garofalo that we snagged during her set at Comix for the "South Toward Home" benefit. Janeane's shows are selling fast and, as an added bonus, Marc Maron will be performing too! Marc used to be a regular on "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn" back when Christian was writing for the show. He's a smart, nice & funny guy. You'll like him.

Shoot, what else...just lost my train of thought. Oh yeah...Marc will be on Letterman this Thursday, his brand new "Comedy Central Presents..." airs Friday, and I'll have his radio tour hammered out by tomorrow night.

Is it Friday Already?!
I NEVER go this long without writing unless it's a holiday and even then I write. What the hell happened to the week? Paul F. Tompkins killed last night and John Mulaney & Kristen Schaal were just as impressive. I got so much great feedback from everyone about the club, the food, the comedy...everything! I was supposed to have a video clip last night to share but we're still working on it. Stay tuned!

Comedy Central's annual Stand Up Showdown is under way. We don't really have the time or energy (heart?) to make a full court press begging for votes this year, but vote for Christian!

Plugging Away this New Year's Day
Wow, the weeks pass quickly...I can hardly keep up with my newsletters! Refresh your browser for The Latest Ballyhoo.

Janeane Garofalo will be headlining next week. I can hardly contain my excitement that I get to work with her. I've had a girl crush on her since watching The Truth About Cats & Dogs. It's very cliche', I know, but it's true.

But I get ahead of myself. Paul F. Tompkins will be here this week. He is one of the funniest, nicest guys around and I just know you'll love his stand up. Details are here, including the
discount code PFTSPACE to save $5.00 of tickets.

Oh, and Christian's segment on The Today Show aired yesterday. I tried capturing the video from my camcorder to Windows Movie Maker but for some reason the audio isn't being captured. I've never had a problem with it before and can't really figure out what would make it start doing that. It bums me out that I can't share the clip since Matt was so cute and nice at the end by complimenting / congratulating Christian on his 80 pound weight loss that began one year ago today. I'll try to trouble shoot the problem but if anyone has a clue, please let me know.
