Hodge Podge
Spiderman 3 premieres tonight in Astoria at our local movie theater just a block from our apartment. Such excitement for the street usually deserted during weekday mornings. Paquita couldn't stand all the loud clanging of the metal barricades being unloaded. She was so scared, I had to carry her for most of the way home from the deli. It's her only walk of the day so I always feel bad for her when she doesn't have a good one. If only she knew she took a dump right where a red carpet will lie.

Tomorrow at Comix we're producing the very first ever online interactive talk show held in front of a live studio audience. Very cool. Fran Drescher is our first guest and we're psyched. Come on out if you're so inclined to participate.

Here are a few photos from the Onion event posted on Flickr. Not bad for a regular camera. Our professional shots probably won't get posted on there. Not out of exclusivity...just who has the time?! Guess it's time for an additional assistant.

AMAZING SHOW! ABOUT 200 PEOPLE AND TONS OF MONEY RAISED!
Pics to come but here's a sneak peak of the husband doing his charitable duty for the Epilepsy Foundation last night at the Onion & Comix fundraiser. Gawker linked it, too!

Up next, a benefit for the Humane Society with Patrick McMullan photog and some big old celebs on June 4th. Can't wait that long? Then Tuesday, come on out to Comix chat with Fran Drescher on the very first ever live / internet talk show.

Tonight, Tonight, Tonight!
AM NY ran nice photo of Bill Burr for tonight's benefit at Comix. He was on "Comedy by Request" yesterday on Sirius which will also broadcast the show in its entirety some time in the near future. Gothamist, What's Up NYC, Uncool Kids, Punchline Magazine have all kindly plugged it and so many other places have it listed. Yay!

Latest Ballyhoo
Not much to it as I'm pushing the Onion benefit but, hey, here it is anyway. I'm going to Sweet tonight to see Christian, Jonathan Ames & Morgan Murphy plus a guest DJ that wasn't publicized for some reason. Curious. Maybe he bailed or didn't want to broadcast it. We'll see.

I'll be on the Raw Dog Comedy Channel on Sirius tomorrow. Bill Burr might come with or call in. Tune in at Noon.

Ugh.

I have a call time of 6:20 AM with Bruce Bruce at the CW11 kicking off our ALL DAY press tour*. I really should be in bed right now. Ah, but I'll be home by 2:00 and can nap before enjoying the weekend with Christian. We have lots to think about after his eventful trip and his Comedy Central tour is winding up so we have that to deal with. Somebody's getting a KIA!

Did you see Craig Ferguson on Letterman Tuesday night? He had a great weekend at Comix and chatted *very* briefly about it. Nice. Then Paul Scheer was on Letterman last night talking about Human Giant. Woot! He was adorable and charming. Yay Paul!

Can't sleep.

*In this order beginning at 7:45 AM, tune in to Egypt & Ashy on Power 105, Kiss FM, Hot 97, JV & Elvis on 92.3 Free FM and then Raw Dog Comedy on Sirius if you want to catch Bruce Bruce live on the radio.

Miscellany
All of Christian's very important meetings are wrapped and he heads home from LA tonight in time to tape Best Week Ever. Tune in to VH1 tomorrow night at 11:00 EST.

Check out this great full page ad by my kid Kirill that will run in the Onion. He's an amazing designer who has helped give a needed facelift to our regular ads, slideshow programs... everything. Every night I think we're the luckiest to have him.

FYI: Bruce Bruce is this weekend. Our press junket starts at 5:45 AM - gulp - and ends at 2:30. So, yeah, I'm staying home tomorrow and resting up before the all day affair. On Friday, Bruce Bruce fans should tune in to the CW11, Egypt & Ashy on Power 105, Kiss FM, Hot 97, JV & Elvis on 92.3 and the Raw Dog Comedy Channel on Sirius.

Eden Court Trailer
Hey, remember Christian filmed a movie with Tom Lennon, Kimberly Williams-Paisley & Stephnie Weir? Me either! It was a year and a half and 90 pounds ago. Here's the trailer:

Timing is Everything!
So last night, knowing Lindsay's deep hatred of Jared Leto, I sent her a link about a creepy sex encounter some girl had with him.

This morning I turned to Page Six and saw an item about Krista Ayne and Jared.

Then I checked my email and got an invite from Penthouse/Krista's publicist to attend Krista's party for Steppin' Out. I sent her the link for Krista's enjoyment along with my regrets for missing the event as I'll be at the Onion / Epilepsy Foundation comedy fundraiser with Michael Showalter, Bill Burr & others. (Plug.)

It struck me as a weird little series of synchronized events that are otherwise non-memorable or mentionable. Tigger, do you think these things speak to something at work? Like the thoughts become things stuff but, you know, less important?

Weather and Dogs and Hair
Last night P said she doesn't want poop in her house so she doesn't let her dog use wee wee pads. It's days like today when I think how could she not. Paquita was desperate to go out with me for the morning coffee run. I tried to show her how miserable she would be if she did. I took her to the windows, cracked one open and let her smell the wet cold air. I think she got it. She didn't try so hard to be noticed after that.

P also said, "In this light you look just like Heather Locklear circa TJ Hooker." I'll take that. It's actually the second time I've gotten that comparison*. Time to tone down the feathers and pay for blowouts maybe.

*The first time was by Jessi Klein on New Year's Eve. Jessi works on David Spade's show and should know her some Heather. Back in my big Texas hair days I used to get compared to Stevie Nicks on a daily basis. Seriously sometimes it was up to five times a day when working the counter at Malibu Grand Prix that I would hear, "Has anyone ever told you..." So I just spent 45 minutes on MyHeritage (damn it's fun!) and, sure enough, Heather & I were an 83% match. So were Alyson Hannigan & Josie Maran.

There's really no point to this except to stall cleaning house and finishing my taxes.

In the Company of Women
Hanging out with Lynne Koplitz & Debbie Perlman -- two funny, pretty, smart women -- made my night. Of course the houses for both shows were packed and Craig Ferguson was terrific, but it was also great being around such talented, driven people. Debbie also happens to work for BCBG Max Azria which makes me jealous at her access to great clothes. I've never been good at shopping for myself -- I kind of need a job that has me wear their line.

Tonight I'll be having drinks with two other pretty and amazingingly successful women and treating them to Craig's late show*. It's a lot of time at Comix on a weekend without the husband but to be in the company of such great women is a nice alternative. As for Christian, he's en route to LA for some very important meetings and will have some gigs, too. He'll be on the Hot Chicks of Comedy show at the Melrose Improv tomorrow night, in fact. So it's seems it's a theme for the weekend.

*The early show is sold out -- sorry -- so get your tickets while you can. It's well worth the price of admission. Added bonus: Lynne is hosting and Dan Naturman is featuring.

Craig Ferguson is headlining this weekend at Comix and it's Tartan Week so lots of Scots will be in the audience as a result. That could be fun for the wait staff trying to take orders quietly while trying to decipher that crazy accent.

Craig should be a great show. He hosted a gala last July in Montreal for the Just For Laughs Festival on which Christian performed and the audience loved him. He definitely didn't "phone it in". His assistant arrives tonight to check out the club in advance since he gets in too late tomorrow to do it himself. I assured her they'll be blown away by Comix -- they always are. Having been on the road with Christian, I know the sh*thole spaces and icky food comedians endure so Comix is always a refreshing change.

Speaking of the road, Christian's tour wraps up at the end of this month so we'll be back to doing big club dates. I'm looking forward to it -- especially Columbus and Austin, two cities I haven't revisited in years. I've already begun putting the word out to old friends -- some of whom I haven't seen since high school -- so I can get back out and enjoy myself outside of Comix.

Childish Blog Post
Christian just left for Georgia, Berkeley, Wyoming then LA for a whirlwind winding down of his Comedy Central "Two for Flinching" tour. Almost time to say goodbye to the Kia which is raffled off to one lucky winner. Sideways frownie face. Unless you're the winner who will have a sideways smiley face with multiple exclamation points.

While in LA he'll have lots of guest spots so I'll keep you West Coasters posted as details trickle in. Meanwhile, I'll be enjoying my nine days without the ole ball n' chain by working hard, drinking harder and playing Godfather on Playstation in my underwear...am I right, ladies? Can I get a "Yeaaaah!"? (Sorry.)

Boring Story About My Dog
So Paquita is having her fake pregnancy again where she mothers her blue ball. This is the second time she's also lactated. Weird, right?

Well, last night I got Aretha (Christian's hamster) out of her cage to play and, as usual, Paquita was very excited. This time, however, Paquita laid down and spread her legs wide so Aretha could suckle! How freaking crazy / cute / weird. Aretha came over to check her out but Aretha doesn't sit still much. I wouldn't have let it happen anyway as I know how sharp those tiny teeth are. Paquita would have been permanently scarred if her first adopted baby severed a nipple. So we gave the trusty blue ball back and she cuddled all night with it.

Happy Birthday to Christian!
I got him the Threadless Twelve Month Club and five different Aromapharmacy candles. Plus the four new pillows we ordered after discovering them during brief weekend stay at the Biltmore in Providence arrived yesterday. Seriously, these Biltmore pillows ruled so much that we tore off the covers to try to find a brand, ingredient list, something, anything that would tell us how to get such awesome Head Candy for our own home. Luckily the front desk had some contact info for us -- apparently they get asked about their pillows alot.

So go to www.Bostontextiles.com tell them you want the Biltmore pillows and you'll get them in a week. We got four Queen sized pillows plus shipping for only $27 each. @&$#*)!

I could hardly wait to light our Valiumello candle and go to bed. I even skipped a Sopranos cast party so I would be sober enough to fully enjoy the experience. Part of that R&R I'm demanding to give myself and part of why I haven't written much. But this week I did go to the launch party for the new Onion News Network, watched the Moth GrandSLAM, trained a new assistant, and had a pow-wow dinner with Christian's management team, so I'm not exactly a home body.
