One Point Five Year Anniversary
Tomorrow is the the 1.5 year anniversary of the day that Christian started his diet and exercise program. He stopped losing weight around last September but for some reason people still think it's an ongoing, negative thing. This was just in his MySpace inbox this evening from Emily Krauser from Indianapolis, IN:

Christian,
I liked it better when you had chubbier cheeks. The bony thing is just not cutting it. I'm serious. you were totally cuter with the baby cheeks and now you just look creepy.

So, eat more or something.

Luv, Emi and Kimber

Thanks, Emily. You'll be happy to know we ate gobs of amazing food at our favorite restaurant Lil Bistro 33 and topped it off with Chef Gary's amazing bread pudding. Sinful and delicious and worth the hike to the core of Astoria.

If you do make it out there, be sure to try one of his special sushi rolls. Any one will do...that's how great they all are. We're also big fans of the ginger dressing on the plain old field green salad. I was so excited to try the rolls I neglected to look at the regular entree menu to see what, if anything, had changed from the old menu. Guess will have to go back soon!

Oh, Yeah, and Mandy Moore
With all the hubbub of my birthday in Austin, I forgot to mention the Mandy Moore show at Comix. It was great and our showroom looked AMAZING (though they covered our logo for the purposes of the Oxygen special). Here are two pics Kirill took:

Back Home
We made it home late last night after a pretty non-eventful day of travel. Well, uneventful excpet for ride to the airport. The cab was driven by an Apache Indian who had decorated the entire interior of the cab with feathers, dried flowers, etc. He was so incredibly nice he even showed us his photos of his grandson's naming ceremony and gave me a hug before we parted ways.

I spent the flight reading a book Christian got me for my birthday -- a quick little read about the publishing industry -- to help me prep for my upcoming book proposal meetings. Meetings which I now feel infinitely less qualified to attend but will try to bluff my way through.

Spending my birthday in Austin was amazing. Seeing old friends, the magic of the MySpace birthday notification and the kindness of the club staff meant that I had lots of birthday wishes, desserts, gifts and general goodness bestowed upon me. Being a little periodical meant that I welled up with happy tears at least three times. Thank you for making it a really special weekend for me.

No snarkiness here, just real gratitude.

Cap City Bday
I made it in to Austin yesterday and am already having the best time. I'm meeting Tex in the City's Kevin Farr and another old high school pal is coming to the show tonight. I'm so excited to see them both. Even more friends are coming out tomorrow night and I ran into another friend randomly last night at the comedy club which makes me feel as though I haven't even left New York. It's weird but I like it.

Happy birthday to me!

Hump Day of the Marathon Birthday Week

We had the most ridiculously yummy mini cheesecakes at Comix today to celebrate my birthday on Friday. Then I left early to come home and pack for Austin and refresh all the food and housing for the anipals. I stopped to get the mail and I'm glad I did as I got a handmade birthday card from My Jailed Deaf Dad.

Speaking of deaf folk, I'm meeting with two deaf comedians next week to talk about doing a show at Comix. How freaking cool would that be?

Please click on the Deaf Dad link. You MUST see this card.

The Penthouse Pet of the Year Party was Okay.
A phrase I really never imaged I'd write. Dad was always into "Oui" and "Playboy" and last year's party was so perfect.

The party was kind of a hassle at first, but we had fun. Spending time with Scott "Rev. Ramsey" was priceless and worth any initial annoyance we had. We met a great guy, I got to network with a couple of comedians I hope to see at Comix soon and Scott & I had about 6 hours of intensely great conversation with "only in NY" kind of weirdness wrapped all around it.

Tonight, I was at a networking cocktail party with some TV and Film types when somehow reality show treatments came up. If you don't know, I have two treatments I'm drafting and my "agent" is on vacation. (Agent is in quotes because he's said he's going to help me but we have no formal relationship.) Well, the agent works with reality TV show producers and promised he can put me in touch with them. So, who did I meet on my own tonight? One of the very producers. Talk about cutting to the chase! Talk about thoughts becoming things! (Sorry, I know I've exhausted this phrase.)

I also decided to actually write a formal proposal for a memoir and, since deciding this, I've met at LEAST three publishers who all said "That's such a no brainer." While this would normally be a great thing to hear, it actually freaks me out. It makes me think I should take my sweet arse time and make sure I attack it from the right angle. Do I strike while the iron is hot? Do I hedge my bets and wait a year or more?

It's all too much to fathom at times and, at others, it's all a wonderful, "FUCK YEAH!" kind of intense d*ck stroking c*m shot in the eye of the wh*re called "Life".

Gosh. Which is it?

Golden Trailer Article
I ran in to an old Tex in the City friend Wendy Williams at the Golden Trailer Awards where she was covering it for her website New York Cool. Check out her write up here and browse around the rest of her site while you're at it. They always have interesting articles and listings.

Lessons from Dad
"No!" Dad signed after he swatted my hand. "That's dirty!" He continued with a disapproving scowl. Until that day, I didn't know it wasn't acceptable to eat boogers.
Read the rest at Love, Daddy.

Miscellany:
-- Dane Cook did a surprise spot on a show Christian was on at the Improv.

-- Christian's manager's bar "Black Rabbit" is opening soon in Greenpoint. We celebrated last night and, I must say, the place is awesome. The public opening is just a couple of weeks away. You should go.

-- I miss Christian who has been in Indy and LA for the last two weeks. He's hanging out with my awesome, Emmy winning, stop motion animating girl friend Sarah tonight at the premiere party of Adult Swim's "Star Wars". It features all the real voices of all the real stars, too! Tune in tonight at 10:00 PM EST.

-- My hopefully awesome whirlwind birthday week officially begins tomorrow with the Penthouse Pet of the Year Party. Huzzah! I'm taking Rev. Ramsey which means I'm bound to have F-U-N! He's never been so he has no idea what he's in for. Heh.

-- Tuesday marks the first of three meetings I have with some big wigs about Love, Daddy and what not. Eek.

Speaking of which, Happy Father's Day, Dads.

Goodnight, Sweet Prince
Bob's last show was aired tonight. Big sideways sad face. I sincerely -- without a trace of irony -- sobbed like a baby.

Now I'm left with Forensic Files.

Please, don't ever leave me FF.

Week Long Birthday Celebration!
What do Barbara Walters, Mandy Moore, and a Gay Bash have in common? They're all things I'm working on at Comix the week of June 18th. Add the Penthouse Pet of the Year party and my birthday in Austin and my week is on track to the "Best [Birthday] Week Ever". Woo!

--Kambri
My text messaged reaction to Christian after seeing the Sopranos finale is unprintable. *$&$^#@%@!

Hmm...

I wonder what Bob Barker did today? I hope he was with people who know and love him. Or maybe just with his dog kicking back with some booze and the paper. Or, I bet he hung up the "WGMC" sign he took as a souvenier that stands for "World's Greatest Master of Ceremonies."
--Kambri
Whatever he's up to, I miss him already.

I'm exhausted!
Between working out at my new gym and early morning radio I can hardly keep my head up. So here's a reminder to tune in tomorrow morning to "Regis & Kelly" to and "Wake Up with Whoopi" on Friday morning to see / hear Caroline Rhea who is at Comix this weekend along with Kym Whitley, Jon Fisch and Costaki Economopolous. Save $5 with the code CRVIP.

And now for a brief plug for my husband:

Christian is in Indy all weekend performing at Crackers Comedy Club in Broad Ripple and will be on Bob & Tom tomorrow morning promoting the shows. Tune in to hear him live in studio; and, if you're in Indy, stop by Crackers to see a show. Call (317) 255-4211 for reservations.

--Kambri
We both have 5:30 AM wake up calls even though we're in two different time zones. Cute. (Puke.)

Mornin', Sunshine.
Caroline Rhea is a doll and funny and at Comix Thursday through Sunday. Get your tickets online here and save $5 with the code CRVIP. Tomorrow morning she'll be on "Scott & Todd in the Morning" on WPLJ around 8:30 AM. Thursday is Regis & Kelly and on Friday at 7:00 AM, we're going to Whoopi Goldberg's radio show...BUT...it will be in front of a live, studio audience. Rock. I'll give you details on that later if you're interested in attending. I'm really looking forward to that show even though it's at a ridiculous hour of the day.

7:00 AM? Really?

I.O.U.
IOU better recaps but, in the meantime, here are Cliff's notes:

Golden Trailer Awards = Fun. Knew a red carpet photographer but still haven't managed to procure pics. Weird. Got free airline tickets for the effort plus a gift bag that was almost all plastic surgery related. Hollywood.

Reading at the PIT Presents the Pendulum = Awesome. For the first time, I felt like I had some command on the stage and with the story. Freedom to improvise and feel it out based on the crowd's reaction. Invigorating and inspiring. Now if I could only find the time / shows / spaces to perform more than once every six months. Time.

Caroline Rhea at Comix = tons of press related work. Radio and TV every single morning and afternoon starting in about 5 hours. Bedtime.

--Kambri
Tune in to Hot 97 tomorrow at 8:10 AM to hear Caroline live in studo on Miss Jones in the Morning.

Christian saw our laundry lady at the gym today so I guess the saran wrap is just extra "effort". Whatever. My laundry is clean and folded to perfection. She's the best, with or without saran wrap.

--Kambri
Don't forget my reading on Monday at the PIT! I hope you can make it!
